چکیده

Pedestrian facilities are more and more congested. It is important to understand the modeling of pedestrian flows to assure safety and comfort. Many models have already been developed such as the social force modle and PedCTM. The problem is that either they allow for population heterogeneity or they are fast. The goal of this project is to implement a new model that has both of these characteristics. The new model presented here is fast due to the use of a fundamental diagram. The anisotropy of this model comes from a new formulation of a fundamental diagram based on the literature, SbFD. This project gives a summary of the model and presents the new fundamental diagram. It also compares this fundamental diagram to the state-of-the-practice, Weidmann (1992). The different parameters of the model and the fundamental diagrams are calibrated using the simulated annealing algorithm. Finally, a case study analysis on two set of experimental data is done to compare the performance of the fundamental diagrams.

A dynamic network loading model for anisotropic and congested pedestrian flows

A macroscopic loading model for multi-directional, time-varying and congested pedestrian flows is proposed in this paper. Walkable space is represented by a network of streams that are each associated with an area in which they interact. To describe this interaction, a stream-based pedestrian fundamental diagram is used that relates density and walking speed in multi-directional flow. The propo...

Dynamic Analysis of Suspension Footbridges Using an Actual Pedestrian Load Model Compared with EUR23984 EN Requirements

The suspension footbridges are very flexible due to their geometrical structure; hence they may face severe vibration problems induced mainly by natural forces and pedestrians crossing. By exceeding a certain limit, these vibrations can disturb the serviceability of the bridge as well as health and safety of the structure and pedestrians. Therefore, standard design guidelines are sets of recomm...

Testing the ability of Multivariate Hybrid Spatial Network Analysis to predict the effect of a major urban redevelopment on pedestrian flows

Predicting how changes to the urban environment will affect town centre vitality, mediated as pedestrian flows, is important for environmental, social and economic sustainability. This study is a longitudinal investigation of before and after urban environmental change in a town centre and its association with vitality. The case study baseline is Cardiff town centre in 2007, prior and after maj...

Analysis of Five Parameter Viscoelastic Model Under Dynamic Loading

The purpose of this paper is to analysis the viscoelastic models under dynamic loading. A five-parameter model is chosen for study exhibits elastic, viscous, and retarded elastic response to shearing stress. The viscoelastic specimen is chosen which closely approximates the actual behavior of a polymer. The module of elasticity and viscosity coefficients are assumed to be space dependent i.e. f...

Modelling Pedestrian Circulation in Rail Transit Stations Using Micro-Simulation

Rail transit with its high passenger capacity and high efficiency has become one of the preferred alternatives to automobile travel. This is evident in the increasing patronage of rail travel especially in urban areas. As a result, many railway stations experience high levels of pedestrian congestion especially during the morning and afternoon peak periods. Traditional design and evaluation pro...
